From trusted foundations to the next chapter of medical device innovation.
FORGE Medical Devices is the next evolution of the Medical Device Partnering Program (MDPP), a Flinders University initiative established in 2008 to help transform promising medical device ideas into real-world solutions. Over the past 18 years, MDPP has brought together researchers, clinicians, industry, manufacturers and end-users to accelerate innovation and support the development of technologies with commercial and clinical potential.
Building a stronger pathway for innovators
MDPP was created to address a critical gap in the innovation ecosystem: helping innovators navigate the challenging early stages of medical device development. Through concept validation, expert collaboration, prototyping and product assessment, the program has helped innovators better understand opportunities, reduce risk and progress ideas towards commercialisation.
MDPP becomes FORGE
Today, that proven model continues through FORGE Ideas while expanding into a broader offering through FORGE Medical Devices. Alongside early-stage concept validation, FORGE now supports innovators and emerging companies through product development, manufacturing readiness, quality systems, regulatory planning and trial-ready preparation via FORGE Pathways.
Looking ahead
Delivered through Flinders University’s Factory of the Future, FORGE Medical Devices builds on nearly two decades of experience while creating clearer, more connected pathways for the next generation of medical device innovators. Our vision remains unchanged: helping great ideas become products that improve lives and deliver meaningful impact.
